There are a lot of wonderful jobs out there for moms with newborns. You just have to be willing to put in the effort and time that goes into getting them. Here are some great ideas for work you can do with your baby at home:
1. Virtual Assistant
A virtual assistant is an employee who provides administrative and technical services to clients remotely. These professionals are often hired by small businesses or entrepreneurs who don’t have the manpower to do all of their own administrative tasks. Virtual assistants provide support in a variety of areas, including:
Administrative tasks like scheduling appointments, answering emails and phone calls, filing documents and more
Technology support such as troubleshooting computer problems or setting up new hardware for your business (e.g., printers)
Researching information on the internet or in print resources such as books at the library.
2. Freelance Writer
This is a great way to get your career going while you're still on maternity leave. You can do freelance writing for others, write for yourself, or just find a few clients who will pay you for the work you do for them. If your husband or partner is home with the baby and can help out with household chores and errands, this could be a great way to earn some money from home while still spending as much time as possible with your newborn!
3. Social Media Manager
A social media manager is responsible for creating and managing a company's social media accounts. The job includes creating content, using data to analyze the performance of each social channel, and engaging with followers.
A social media manager job description might include:
Creating an editorial calendar that outlines when and where content will be posted on each platform;
Scheduling posts in advance, as well as responding to comments or questions that may arise;
Using analytics tools like Google Analytics to see which posts are most popular or effective at increasing engagement with followers;
Running ad campaigns through Facebook or other platforms (for instance, by promoting an event);
Analyzing existing data from past campaigns in order to determine what types of posts worked best—and then repeating those successes while avoiding failures;
A bachelor’s degree is typically required for this position—but many employers will prefer candidates who have experience working in social media management before applying.
4. Virtual Tutor
If you have a passion for teaching, consider becoming a virtual tutor. Online tutoring is growing in popularity and can be an excellent way to earn money while staying at home with your new baby. You'll be able to work when it's convenient for you, which will allow you to spend more time with your new arrival and help out with household duties as needed. To get started in this field, you'll need some basic skills and knowledge of the subject matter that you plan on teaching. In addition to being able to communicate well through written or spoken language, successful virtual tutors have good listening skills as well as excellent organizational abilities—you'll need both if you want your students' success rate (and yours!) high enough so that they will continue coming back!
Even if you have a newborn at home, there are plenty of ways to earn money from home. You just need to find the right match for your skills and time availability. With so many options out there, don’t let guilt hold you back from finding something that will work for everyone involved!
